Shrove Tuesday, or as we girls knew it "Pancakes for dinner Tuesday!", growing up was a tradition in our family. Every year before Lent our church would do a MASSIVE pancake dinner for the entire church. The star of the whole thing was Rich Hildebrandt's pancakes. People lined up to get 4 and 5 of these pancakes at a time. They were filling and spiced....

Fresh baked bread smells usually had mom heading to the kitchen with a small plate. While she didn't bake loaves of bread, she did enjoy the ones I made...as do my husband and children. Each time I bake a loaf for a lodge event, I always have to make an extra for the house or the one for the event goes missing.

Piggy Cookies...A recipe that every female in my family has fought over having their own copy of for generations. These delightful little deserts were found every Christmas ready for decorating by the younger generation and rarely did anyone walk away without frosting on them somewhere. Our own family has a pig cookie cutter that we have passed down to use for cutting these yummy cookies that will disappear before you can pull the next batch out.

This Recipe was a favorite of not only our mother's but also of our family's priest. My mother would often make this dish growing up for our Sunday after church gathering. She was often overheard commenting "I have to make two batches. One for the church group and one just for Father Tom." It's still a family favorite and the smell of almond in the house will instantly transport us girls back in time.
